Hi there, my name is Alexandra Rose Meli!
I am a musical theatre artist from Long Island, NY–now based in New York City. Pretty soon, I will be graduating from NYU Steinhardt, where I study Vocal Performance with a concentration in musical theatre; I have also received training from the Manhattan School of Music Precollege Division and The Gateway School for the Performing Arts.
For me, musical theatre is the perfect protein smoothie of humanity, storytelling, skill, and athleticism–I can’t get enough of it. When I am not on stage, you can find me up in the gym werkin’ on my fitness, nerding out over Dungeons & Dragons, or curled up with a good book.
WHAT I'VE BEEN UP TO
Onwards and Upwards
I love working hard, and feeling proud of the energy, time, and life that I put into everything I do. In fact, I feel most like myself when I am exploring new depths and overcoming new challenges. Here are some projects that I am really proud of:
ALEXANDRA ROSE MELI: IF YOU WANT SOMETHING DONE...
March 24th, 2023 at The Green Room 42
Sometimes if you want something done, you've got to do it yourself! This past March, I made my New York solo concert debut at The Green Room 42! I had such an amazing time sharing a part of myself through my favorite music, and an even better time learning to plan, produce, and market my own little show. Fun fact: my show was my first time performing tuba professionally, and the first time anyone has ever played the tuba at The Green Room 42!
NINE at NYU Steinhardt
September 2022 at The Frederick Loewe Theatre
This past semester, I had the absolute joy of playing Carla Albanese in the NYU Steinhardt: Vocal Performance mainstage production of Maury Yeston's Nine. Bringing dynamism and depth to a character sculpted entirely by the male gaze was extremely rewarding. During the rehearsal process, I was able to connect to my Italian heritage through research and dialect work, as well as participate in a vocal health research study conducted by Dr. Ana Flavia Zuim.
DOCTOR GLAS Workshop & Reading
May 2022
Recently, I had the pleasure of work-shopping Doctor Glas, a new musical by James Feinberg and Matthew Dylan Rose. I absolutely loved the creative freedom and responsibility that came with originating the role of Helga Gregorious, and was honored to be included in the development of music and lyrics.
